What is email forwarding?
Top
Email forwarding is very similar to "call forwarding" on your phone.
Email forwarding can forward a specific email to an existing email box you
already have configured in Microsoft Outlook or to any web-based email
account such as Yahoo or Hotmail.
You choose which email
address is forwarded to other specific email addresses. You can
create many different email addresses with your domain extension such as "info@yourdomain.com"
or "sales@yourdomain.com" and
have them forwarded to the same or different other email addresses.
How much does it cost?
Top
There is no extra fee for email forwarding with your domain registration.
This is an added value beyond your registration. You have up to 50
free email forwardings.
How many different
emails can I forward?
Top
You can configure up to 50 email forwardings with each domain for free.
How do I set up email
forwarding? Top
First, login to your domain control panel. Scroll down to the bottom
of the page to the section entitled "email forwarding". Type in your
usernames on the left and the specific outside forwarding email
addresses on the right hand column.
Below is a sample from the email information
page and control panel. The email address "info@sampledomain.com"
will be forwarded to "myname@aol.com".
What is the "Catch-All" feature?
Top
This is a great feature to insure that you will receive all email with
your domain extension "@sampledomain.com" , even misspellings. In
other words, all email addresses like "infoo@sampledomain.com"
and "webmister@sampledomain.com" will all be forwarded to "myname@yahoo.com".
In the first line in
the example below, the * sign in the Username field will configure every
email address with the domain extension "@sampledomain.com" to be
forwarded to "myname@yahoo.com".
Can the
same email be forwarded to more than one person?
Top
Yes, just set up a separate line in the email forwarding control panel for
each email address you want to receive a forwarding for a particular email
address.
In the example below
the same email address "info@sampledomain.com"
will be forwarded to two different email addresses.
How can I set up my domain name as a reply address in Microsoft Outlook?
Top
Email forwarding is the first step or the "front end" component of email
branding and perception. The next step or the "back end" solution is
to be able to send out using email addresses of your new domain name
extension such as "info@yourdomain.com"
from an email account manager such as Microsoft Outlook all for free!
Microsoft Outlook
Configuration For Reply Address
Click "Tools" from the top
menu bar and then click "Accounts".
Click the "Mail" subfolder
and then click and highlight your default email address and account that
is configured with Outlook from your ISP or hosting service. Click
"Properties" on the right hand menu bar. Click "Servers" on the
subfolder at the top. Write down the setting for "Outgoing Mail -
SMTP" - you will need this information later in the set-up
Click "Add" in the upper
right hand corner and select "Mail".
Type in your full new email
address "info@sampledomain.com"
as the display name, then click "Next".
Select the option "I
already have an email address I'd like to use" and type in your email
address "info@sampledomain.com"
in the Email Address text box. Then, click "Next".
In the next screen, put in
your full email address in the text box for POP3 account configuration.
( This is where you are actually fooling Outlook and setting up a "reply"
email alias - this will be the name for this account and you will not
receive incoming POP3 mail on this account - you will only be sending out
using the SMTP configuration ) The SMTP configuration should be the same
text as you have listed in your main mail account already configured with
Outlook ( see above - the text you wrote down from the SMTP configuration
), usually an email address given by your ISP or hosting service.
For example if you have Mindspring the SMTP would be "smtp.mindspring.com".
Click "Next" to continue.
When you click "Next" to
continue you will most likely be given a message "The specified POP3
server does not appear to be a valid server name, do you want to use it
anyway?" Click "Yes" to continue.
The next screen is the
Internet Mail Logon screen. It doesn't really matter what you put in
these two text boxes because you will only be sending out from this email
address using Outlook. ( You will most likely be receiving this
email from a forwarding configuration set-up above which will be pointed
to your main POP3 account provided by your ISP or hosting service. )
Type in anything in these two text boxes and then click "Next".
Then click "Finish" on the
next screen.
You should return to the
Internet Accounts screen with your new email address account "info@sampledomain.com
" partially highlighted. Click on the email address of your new account
listed to fully highlight it. Then, click "Properties" on the right
menu bar. Next, click "General" on the subfolder menu at the top.
Fill in text for the Organization "SampleDomain.com" and type in your
complete email address in the "Reply Address" text box. Make sure
that your email address is also listed in the "Name" and the "Email
Address" text fields.
Next, deselect the checked
box at the bottom with the text "Include this account when receiving mail
or synchronizing." This makes sure that this account only sends out
email - it does not receive email. ( Your email is already forwarded to
another account. If it is forwarded to your POP3 account you will
already receive it in your Outlook Inbox. )
Click "Apply" and then
"OK". Then click "Close". - Your account is now set-up to send
out emails using your email address "info@sampledomain.com".
In the future, when you
open a new message text box, there will be a drop down option in the
"From" field, because you now have more than one email address that you
can send out with. You can set up multiple email address aliases
using the same procedure described above. All the accounts will be
listed in the "From" drop down list for you to choose from.
How
can I set up my domain name as a reply address in Eudora?

Email forwarding is the
first step or the "front end" component of email branding and perception.
The next step or the "back end" solution is to be able to send out
using email addresses of your new domain name extension such as "info@yourdomain.com"
from an email program like Eudora all for free!
A reply address is called a
"return address" in Eudora. To set up a "return address" you need to
add a "Personality" in your Eudora manager. Please refer to the
following support page on the Eudora web site:
http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/tutorials/win_personalities.html .
Make sure to put the
address you want to brand "info@yourdomain.com"
in the "Return Address" text box. It is best to uncheck the box that says
"Check Mail" because you really don't need to check mail with this
personality, just send out mail. If you don't uncheck this box, you may
get some an error message when you receive mail.

TroubleShooting - Email Forwarding
I just registered my domain
and have set up email forwarding, but it doesn't work?
Top
When you register a new domain name, it can take 24-36 hours for the
domain name to be updated or "propogated" across the Internet. You
can pre-configure your email forwarding settings and they will begin
working when the domain name has been propogated in the Internet registry,
making it available to all Internet Service Providers.
In the domain control panel I don't see anywhere to configure email
forwarding?
Top
When you purchase a new domain it defaults to our nameservers. At
the domain control panel, scroll down the page near the bottom and you
will see the email forwarding section.
If you have updated or changed to outside nameservers, we have lost the
control or function of your domain and email forwarding is not available.
That would be why you do not see an email forwarding section on your
domain control panel.
I just changed my nameservers to a hosting company and my email forwarding
doesn't work any more?
